GTA 6 Map Size — Leonida vs GTA 5 (What’s Confirmed)

What Rockstar has said about the GTA 6 map versus fan 2–2.5× GTA 5 estimates. Leonida biomes, interiors talk, and how to explore scale on Map-6.

Short answer

Rockstar has not published a square-kilometre figure for the GTA 6 map. Community estimates place Leonida at roughly 2 to 2.5 times the size of the GTA 5 map, which remains an estimate rather than a confirmed number.

“GTA 6 map size” is one of the highest-volume queries in this niche — and most ranking pages mash official slogans with Discord math. Map-6 splits them. Official: Rockstar and Take-Two call Grand Theft Auto VI the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series, set in the state of Leonida. Unofficial: community reconstructions (State of Leonida / GTADB-style projects, trailer stills, older leak geography) often land around two to two-and-a-half times GTA 5’s land. Those are not interchangeable facts.

Named destinations you can actually use: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Grassrivers, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Those six groups are the skeleton of Map-6’s regional hubs and filters. Additional neighborhoods will appear in-game; we will not invent a 40-district roster to pad word count.

Density matters more than raw area. Previews talk about crowded streets, interiors, and activities filling the icon layer. Some outlets repeat “700+ interiors”; treat that as press language until Rockstar publishes a number. Map-6’s job pre-launch is relative position: neon coast versus keys versus port versus wetlands versus gated island versus northern wilderness — not a fake area calculator.

How to feel scale on Map-6: open /map, zoom out until Vice City and the Keys chain share the screen, pan to Port Gellhorn versus Ambrosia, then north toward Mount Kalaga with Grassrivers as the wet middle. Switch ?game=gta5 to compare Los Santos muscle memory. Measure tool and HUD X/Y exist so you can log trailer travel time guesses without pretending they are official km.

Competitors (MapGenie historically owns post-launch collectible maps; Leonida Intel and stateofleonida.net own pre-launch reconstruction). Map-6 beats them on: free filters without a found-cap, multilingual hubs, overlay/clip URLs, and editorial pages that refuse to present estimates as Rockstar specs. Attribution: GTADB community tiles CC BY 4.0 where used.

When Rockstar drops an official scale graphic, this page gets a dated update — we will not “correct” fan math into fake precision before that.

Trailer-3 and Newswire workflow: new footage changes confidence, not km². Match skylines on Landmarks, note biome edges, Share deep links. Size arguments in comments are entertainment; your notes should be shapes and crossings.

FAQ

How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not published a square-kilometer figure. Marketing calls Leonida the biggest evolution of the series. Community mapping projects often estimate roughly 2× to 2.5× GTA 5’s land area. Map-6 shows both sentences separately.
Is GTA 6 bigger than GTA 5?
Rockstar describes it as larger and denser than previous entries. Exact multipliers are fan math from reconstructed coordinates and trailer geography. Use Map-6’s GTA 5 classic map (?game=gta5) beside Leonida to feel the difference, not a fake km² table.
