Best Setup for GTA 6 — PS5, Xbox, Headset & Storage

Launch-day hardware checklist: console upgrade, DualSense, headset, SSD space, and 120Hz display picks before Vice City drops.

9 min read · 2026-08-16

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The week before launch is the worst time to discover a dying console fan, a full SSD, or a TV that cannot do HDMI 2.1. This guide is a purchase-intent checklist — what to lock in now, and what can wait until official ASINs for the game itself go live.

Start with the platform you already own. Buying a second console just for GTA 6 rarely pays off unless you were upgrading anyway. If your PS5 or Series X is healthy, skip to controllers, headset, and storage. If you are still on last-gen or a shared TV, console_upgrade intent is the highest-ticket decision on this page.

Storage matters more than marketing slides admit. Open-world Rockstar titles are huge; leave headroom for patches and captures. A 1TB NVMe (console-compatible or PC) is the practical mid-funnel add-on while game editions are not listable yet.

Audio sells long sessions. A Pulse 3D or equivalent wireless headset keeps party chat and footsteps usable during marathon Vice City nights and Kick/TikTok commentary. Pair it with a DualSense spare if co-op or couch sessions are part of your plan.

Displays: you do not need an OLED to enjoy GTA 6, but HDMI 2.1 / 120Hz readiness protects performance modes when Rockstar ships them. Treat 4K120 marketing carefully — match the panel to the console HDMI port you will actually use.

Use the product cards below as an Amazon shortlist. Map-6 is a fan map, not Rockstar; some links are affiliate. When Standard and Collector listings appear, jump to the pre-order guide and the Collector's Edition comparison for edition math.

Creators: if your “setup” is also a stream kit, open the Map-6 clip kit guide for OBS overlay URLs, capture cards, and shareable map deep-links (`?theme=streamer&ref=yourhandle`).

Next step: tick console → pad → headset → storage → display, then bookmark /map so launch week is navigation, not shopping panic.
