Take-Two will set a recommended price; shops will display TTC; promotions may appear later. Any article that already prints “exactly 69,99 €, Deluxe 99,99 €, done” as official gospel is running ahead of a store page you can screenshot. We will fill exact figures when Newswire or a retailer listing is stable. Until then, this is a France/EU pricing-logic guide — VAT, channels, edition discipline — not a fake tariff.
Euros on a French product page are consumer prices with VAT included (TTC). Standard French VAT on this kind of good is 20 percent, already baked into the number you see — you should not add 20 percent again at the door. Compare TTC to TTC. A UK or US listing in another currency is not your checkout. If a marketplace seller quotes HT, a foreign VAT rate, or a “plus fees” line, stop and read the full order summary before you treat it as the French street price.
AAA launch bands in Europe have climbed this generation; a new Rockstar single-player will almost certainly sit in the current premium new-release corridor, not in a 29,99 € sale in week one. That corridor is context for budgeting — it is not Map-6 inventing an official SKU price. Write a ceiling you can afford. If the live listing lands under it, good. If a “Deluxe” or “Ultimate” tier appears later, price the delta against Standard, not against a leak spreadsheet. Amazon.fr is the default comparison tab for a lot of French households: Prime shipping on eligible items, a familiar returns flow, and cancellation on most pre-orders until the item ships. Watch the seller line (Amazon vs marketplace), the platform SKU (PS5 vs Xbox), and physical versus digital. A cheap third-party listing with a vague region is not a deal. Map-6 affiliate cards, when ASINs exist, are a shortlist — not a command to ignore Fnac or the console stores.
Fnac (and similar French chains / click-and-collect) matters if you want a desk you can walk into, a French-language after-sales path, or an adhérent habit you already have. Hardware discounts and game discounts are not the same policy — do not assume your card knocks 20 percent off a launch SKU. Pre-order bonuses, if any, must be listed by the retailer or Rockstar; “Fnac exclusive leak weapon” is not a reason to pay a premium. Compare the TTC, the edition name, and the platform before you treat click-and-collect as automatically cheaper than Amazon.
PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store are account-locked digital storefronts. The euro price you see is for that account’s region; a US PSN wallet will not magically become a French TTC bargain. Digital never “sells out” the way a disc pile does, but it also does not give you a box to resell as easily. Preload windows usually open close to launch — leave SSD space (again: /guides/best-setup-gta-6-ps5-xbox). Console-store refund rules differ from Amazon/Fnac distance-selling habits; read them before you treat digital as risk-free.
Physical versus digital is a price-and-risk choice, not a lore choice. Physical can be gifts, used-market later, and sometimes cheaper in a weekend promo; it can also be region-awkward and out of stock. Digital is convenient and account-bound. Rockstar has not asked Map-6 to announce “code-in-box only” or “always a Blu-ray” as fact — read the live product page. If the box says download code, believe the box, not a forum that promised a disc.
Collector and extra tiers: unpublished contents, unpublished official French premiums. Do not buy a grey-market “Collector” whose listing invents statue height and pin counts. Cross-border traps: Amazon.de / Amazon.es listings in euros can still be a different legal offer (delivery country, language on the box, PEGI labeling). Import fees should not appear on a normal EU-to-France shipment of a standard game, but marketplace chaos still happens. Pay in EUR on a French or clearly EU page when you can. Gift cards in the wrong wallet currency are how people “save” 10 € and lose 40 €. Screenshot the cart with platform + edition + TTC before you click.
When you are charged: many retailer pre-orders authorize or charge close to ship, not on day one of the listing; console stores vary. That delay is why cancellation-until-ship is useful if Rockstar later clarifies editions. It is not a reason to stack three pre-orders “just in case.” One platform, one edition, one payment method that will still work in November. Recover the store account email now — a perfect TTC comparison does not help if 2FA is on a dead phone.
